The first step towards achieve your academic success is to set a goal for yourself.  Write it down and stick it to a wall.  By doing that, at the back of your mind, you raise your standard and focus your time and energy.

The two study tips that got me through my high school years is my reward system and handwriting my study notes.

To make your notes, you have to read the materials, decide what’s important... this process will help you learn.

Learning a concept doesn’t mean just memorizing how to do the answer.  Look further to the meaning of what you are doing...

I try to understand what is the concept... If I have to explain it in my own words to my grandma or an alien from space what that concept is...  If I can’t do that I know I haven’t understand it fully.

I wrote out all my activities.  Then I high-light the most rewarding ones and explain what I learn from each...

Brainstorm the ideas as a casual conversation with your friend.  Then start your first draft as if you are writing to your friend’s parents.  You want to be respectful but have your personal touch to it...

For the Rotman video essay, prepare a list of possible questions and your answers to them, just like you are going into a job interview.

Set goals for your activities.  For example:  Activity: Fund / Charity. Goal: Set an amount of money you hope to raise to make a difference...

Universities love to see these activities in your application: Charity, Student Gov’t, Competitive Sports, Tutoring...

In filming your video essay, always be yourself and show your personality.  Be enthusiastic, exciting and captivating,

Use a calendar.  Write down what you want to get done at what blocks of time.  Be precise.
