The QEA Approach
to Newmarket students

Tutoring in Newmarket

Our tutors follow a one-on-one technique to understand the students' learning gaps. Additionally, we use personalized lessons covering all fundamental concepts and a step-by-step explanation method when handling homework.

1. Building Foundations

Unlike many other subjects, math and science are cumulative. Hence, successful students must be able to build a strong foundation to ensure long term success. This is why we focus on teaching concepts in our math and science classes. In math and science, the best tutoring approach is helping students to understand the concepts and principles instead of memorizing materials.

2. Step by step explanations

During our math and science tutoring sessions, we provide easy-to-understand, step-by-step explanations. Our tutors pay attention to each student`s foundational gaps and re-explain where necessary.

Build your Math foundations and confidence with QEA #1 rated math tutoring program

Math lessons follow a cumulative style as you proceed from one grade level to another. Therefore, each grade level is essential for the next. Students need to understand the basics and be able to apply them. However, most students memorize instead of learning the concepts. They ignore foundational gaps that might hunt them in the future.

QEA is accredited by the Ministry of Education, and we have an in-depth understanding of the curriculum. With our expertise, we help students build foundational building blocks in line with their academic needs. At QEA, we focus on helping the students build a good foundation.

Common challenges that most students encounter in math:

1. Weak foundational skills in math

To build a good math foundation, the student must learn some skills in Grade 7 or 8. These skills include fractions, integers, and algebra. In high school, they proceed to graphing, solving equations, and quadratic equations. If students fails to learn these skills, they'll likely struggle with math year after year. With sufficient practice and proper lessons, foundational gaps can be addressed.

2. Memorize instead of understand

Most students are used to memorizing math instead of learning the principles that go into each solution. The issue with this approach is that the students will not be able to solve similar other questions. This leads to the loss of marks eventually. To understand math is to understand the “why” behind the concepts or steps, and know when to apply “what”. We use a step-by-step explanation approach to teach our students the concepts.

The QEA math tutoring program is one on one, private.

At QEA, we focus on re-addressing each student's foundational gaps and helping them build stronger foundations. We also provide several practice questions to help them improve their skills.

Build your English foundational skills - writing, reading comprehension, and critical analysis

English is important in high schools because you need a good English grade to get admitted to any university programs. And achieving good English grades requires you to have a set of very important skills, which lots of students are missing: essay writing, reading comprehension, grammar, and critical analysis.

At QEA English tutoring program classes, we focus on building critical English language skills: essay writing, reading comprehension, and critical analysis. We help our students develop these skills in line with their school curriculum. For instance, QEA essay writing lessons teach students how to write a concise and compelling thesis, introductory paragraphs that grab readers' attention, and how to build arguments from Shakespeare quotes or other novels.

Common challenges that most students encounter in English:

1. Students lack proper sentence structures

Nowadays, students are accustomed to text, thanks to instant messaging. Unfortunately, the habit carries through to school work. Inevitably, their writing is poor, lacks good grammar and sentence structure. QEA uses a step-by-step approach to re-instill discipline in the student and addresses the challenge.

2. Students’ essays lack critical analysis and are penalized for marks.

Critical thinking makes up a large portion of every student`s English grades in high school. But many students tend to simply state the plot summary in their school essays instead of writing a proper critical analysis. This leads to a loss of grades. We teach students to overcome this challenge by helping them understand the plot of a story and linking that plot to other themes in the story.

The QEA English tutoring program is one on one, private.

At QEA, our tutors help each student master the use of English, especially reading comprehension, essay writing, snd critical analysis skills. without deviating from the school's curriculum.

The Queen Elizabeth Standard on Academic Excellence

Queen Elizabeth Academy has a strong culture for providing high-quality education to students. Our past students have entered top universities on scholarships ranging from $2,000 to $23,000. All students of QEA often build strong foundations before leaving. Some of them are in medical schools, some are pursuing their masters and Ph.D., while others work for top Bay St. firms and global companies.
