SAT English Exam - common challenges

SAT English is challenging for a lot of students, because what they were trained in high school English is totally different from the skills needed to score well on SAT English.

In high school English, students are trained to analyze text such as Shakespeare, novel studies, poetry - in depth with plenty of time to write their essays.

However, in SAT English, students need a pinpoint the key information with severe time constrain. They need to know where to find key info in the text quickly, and apply them strategically to answer multiple choice questions.

The second challenge are multiple choice questions. When it comes to multiple choice, SAT English exam questions are ambiguous. From the 4 answers, there will be two incorrect answers, and two correct answers, where one answer is more correct than the other. AT QE SAT prep class, we teach strategies to target these types of amibiguity in SAT multiple choice.

SAT Math Exam - common challenges

SAT Math is challenging for a lot of students, because they contain a lot of word problems and questions with multiple concepts combined into one, which require problem solving techniques to dissect and solve.

To perform well in SAT math, the first step is to review all the fundamental concepts under each SAT topic. Merely doing SAT papers over and over again will not work, because the questions change all the time. The students need to know the fundamentals and know how to apply to each case.

At QE SAT Prep classes, we teach the fundamental first, then show them strategies and problem solving techniques to dissect SAT questions. This include multiple choice strategies, important problem solving techniques specifically for SAT math problems and strategies tailored to each types of questions.

This will optimize the student performance. With good studying and practice, QE students will perform well on SAT Math exams.
