QE Tutoring focuses on building the student's foundation and understanding, not memorizing. We offer 1 on 1 private tutoring that is teaching and lesson based.
We don't sit back and wait for students to ask questions, because often times, they don't know what to ask. After the lesson, we then go through problems with student step by step, explaining the rationale behind it. Only then you can fully understand!
QE Academy is a Ministry inspected school offering private credit course towards the OSSD. We offer small class size (9 students max), focusing on building a foundation for the student.
To maintain the quality of our lessons, class size is limited to a max of 9 students, giving students the opportunity to ask questions throughout an on-going lecture.
For our students who are applying to universities, building a better foundational knowledge is key to success.
Our focus is to build step by step on the students’ understanding of the materials. We turn complex concepts into simpler steps for our students to absorb and understand.
We structure a work period in each of our lessons that our teachers walk around and help each student one by one.
It would be a good idea, before the beginning of this course, to brush up on the foundations of mathematics, such as factoring (especially trinomial factoring), domain and range, graphing, adding rational expression, and trigonometry ratios. If you wait until the course beings, it may be difficult to keep pace with the new material which is being taught. Foundations are always important, and as with all mathematics courses, this one builds upon your past knowledge, so be sure to review.
Also, make sure to keep good, organized notes to stay on top of the course units. Do not be afraid to practice problems beyond those assigned in the homework, as MHF4U Advanced Functions is known for containing a very wide variety of questions and problems, and therefore the more you expose yourself to such problems, the better prepared you will be. Because of this, the Queen Elizabeth Academy provides all of our students with extra worksheets and practice tests to hone their skills and succeed.
For students to succeed in Vector Calculus, they must be proficient in exponents, factoring, combining rational expressions such as fractions with algebra, and solving equations.
You want to pay special attention to the Optimization Unit, which usually includes many word problems. However, if you have trouble dealing with word problems, be sure to prepare for this unit in particular. Do not forget to keep your notes organized while you identify the different kinds of problems. This will significantly help you to clarify the concepts in the course, and to keep track of your progress.
The concepts of vectors are very complex. So when approaching vector problems, be sure to layout and write down all of the steps clearly. Also, write down why such steps are necessary. For instance, what variable are you attempting to achieve with each step? This approach will undoubtedly simplify even more complicated questions and allow you to easily identify areas where you need additional help.
A vital tip to remember when studying chemistry is not to allow yourself to become lost in details. There's always a ‘big picture’ concept in any given unit, so keep an eye out for that. To help you visualize these concepts, it's a good idea to organize your work into a flow chart. This strategy displays the essential concepts and how they're connected one to another. As a result, you'll be able to handle tests much better.
Always try to understand the “why” behind every concept you encounter or the reason a concept is essential instead of merely memorizing things. For example, the boiling point of an organic compound reflects the strength of the intermolecular force of attraction holding its molecules together. A good grasp of these concepts will help you adapt to situational problems in chemistry.
To succeed in grade 12 physics, you can't simply memorize the equations and plug in numbers. You need to first understand the concept, and more importantly, the rationale behind the steps. One techique we teach is to visualize the problem. What is happening? Then you can figure out the variables, the givens and the equations. In physics 12, it is rare that you can substitute the numbers straight into the equation and yield the answer. Often times you need to manipulate the equation, or combine multiple equations together, based on the stiuation. Therefore you need to expect that and be familar on how to apply the equations properly.
Practice makes perfect! You need to work on a large variety of problems, to the point you are familiar with the patterns, understanding the rationale behind the steps. (i.e. why do you take this step?). This way you will master your tests!
Oral communication is often a strong point for students compared to reading, however some students may have difficulty with it. There is nothing to be worried about, the key to success here is just to be familiar with the English language in general, to avoid slang usage, to speak in complete and grammatically correct sentences, and to demonstrate a wide vocabulary. For more formal assignments, if you are a stronger writer than speaker, try to write out your work before practicing your presentation out loud. Be aware also of how you pronounce words, and the tone of your voice. Avoid mumbling and speak clearly and comfortably. Many students feel embarrassed to speak in front of the class, but remember that everyone is in the same boat and has the same assignment.
Reading and literature studies often presents the greatest challenge as it is less familiar and more advanced by the twelfth grade than in previous years. High level texts like Hamlet can present unique challenges to students based on the older style of writing and syntax, and it can be difficult to move from simply understanding the plot to understanding analysis and critical study of the text. Break it down into parts and be aware of the components of literature. Write down what the themes are, or the themes that you notice in the text. Keep track of the characters and how they behave in the text. What is significant about what is happening? If you struggle with the text itself, try reading it out loud, Shakespeare was performed live after all, and still is. Try finding a version of a Shakespeare performance to see how all the stage directions are incorporated. Also, try to find something you like about each text you read. While it can be a chore to read these books, they are also classics for a reason. Always ask questions about what you are reading, and always keep notes so you are not scrambling to redo everything at the last minute.
Writing is a chance to embrace your creativity, so take the chance and do your best. For creative writing, choose topics that you care about or that interest you. For more formal, academic writing, choose topics that you both know about or can research, and which interest you. One key skill here is the organization of your thoughts. That means making sure that you express yourself in writing in a logical and methodical way, not just what comes to mind when you think about it, but structured and intentional writing. Take the time to map out what you will write. For your stories or creative writing, make sure you know how the story will end before you write it, try to develop the characters beforehand, take the time to think. For formal academic writing, make sure to do the requisite research beforehand. Find relevant quotations in the text, and make sure you have relevant facts that you present in a manner that you have thought out. Make use of the time you are given. If you are stuck you can make use of a writing prompt, but always make sure to ask why you are writing what you are writing.
Media studies is generally the least problematic section for students, especially considering the amount of exposure to popular culture and mass media that most students have already experienced. The important thing to remember here is that just knowing about popular culture is not enough. Students are called to analyze what they are experiencing and to critically examine it. That means perhaps investigating more deeply what they take for granted on their devices, and how they receive information online. These segments are also more dependent upon the discretion of the teacher than most, so material may vary from school to school, or class to class.

This principle applies to various tasks from focusing your energy on the most important subjects, to scoring the test questions you know first, to focusing on one or two job experiences or extracurricular activities that make you stand out....

Part of the Western Ivey HBA AEO application are 2,500 word essays that ask you to describe 2 top activities you finished in the past four years.
Western's deadline for the Ivey AEO application for secondary school students is January 12th, 2023 at 4:00 pm EST.
The admissions committee uses the activities essays to get to know applicants and evaluate skills, all so they determine if you're a good fit for the program. The activity essays are without a doubt the most crucial portino of the application.
Attaining AEO status to the Western Ivey School of Business is not an easy task. However, with the right approach and execution, getting into this competitive program can certainly be done.

The most integral part of the Queen's Commerce application are the Supplementary Essays (SE).
Out of three random essay prompts, you must complete two essays under 2,000 words (with spaces included)
The questions, which are accessibly on SOLUS, will be available for 30 day periods. If you fail to finish the first set of SE questions within the 30 days, a new set will be generated.
Essays cannot be submitted beyond February 15th, 2023.
Here are some past year questions for Queen's Commerce Supplementary Essay (Note that questions wording might change):

While applying to universities, many students will focus on their grades, but have often neglected the importance of the application essay. You should start early (one to two months before the deadline) and compose at least 4-5 drafts on each essay.

Wifrid Laurier's undergraduate business degree, Laurier Business, accepts students with a minimun of 80% Laurier Grade Point Avergae (LGPA). This LGPA is calculated based on the 5 highest completed ful-credit courses, university or college level. Laurier Grades can be found through LORIS. If you are a transfer student from a different Ontario university/college, you must must have completed 5 full course equivalents (FCEs) or be in your final semester. Out of those 5 courses, 2 must be business courses.
Laurier Business students cannot be admitted into the BBA program with more than 8 FCEs. AP/IB/College Credits as well as Laurier Challenge Exams are included in those 8 courses. 15 FCEs must be completed to achieve the BBA degree. After having completing your Laurier application on OUAC, you will be able to complete the Applicant Background Summary (ABS). The ABS form documents your extracurricular activities and achievements.
There is also an optional ABS form that has 5 questions, each one letting you go into detail about areas like career, extracurriculars, employment, awards, volunteer experience in the community, and more.

By answering the Personal Questions, you will have the opportunity to write about who you are and where you come from while also displaying your perspective, reactions, and how you apply skills such as organization and time management.
You will be asked to take a position or express an opinion about a certain topic, question, or issue in problem-based questions.
The goal of the problem-based questions is to take a position, justify your viewpoint with supporting evidence, and discuss how your answer represents you as an indiviudal. You want your position to benefit and enahnce your application.
