The QEA Approach
to Waterloo students

Tutoring in Waterloo

We use a one-on-one teaching technique to understand the needs of our students in classes. We also use personalized lessons that cover rudimentary and critical concepts and step-by-step explanation methods for homework.

1. Building Foundations

Every lesson in math and science is a building block. Therefore, successful students must build a strong foundation, which is essential for long term success. This is why we focus on teaching concepts in our math and science classes. This helps the students to understand instead of memorizing things. This tutoring approach is essential in building the students’ foundation.

2. Step by step explanations

From experience, we`ve noticed that providing easy-to-understand, step-by-step explanations during science and math classes always works best. During each session, our tutors pay attention to the students` foundational gaps and re-explain where necessary.

Build your Math foundations and confidence with QEA #1 rated math tutoring program

In learning math, each grade level is a stepping stone onto the next. Hence, students need not only to understand the basics, but must also be able to apply them. However, many students' approach has always been to memorize and pass quickly, without bothering to learn the concepts. This approach inevitably creates a foundational gap, which must be filled.

QEA is duly accredited by the Ministry of Education. We have an in-depth understanding of the curriculum to show it. Besides, we know how to help any student lay the foundational building block relative to their academic needs. At QEA, we see the importance of a good foundation, which is why we are focused on helping every student build them.

Common challenges that most students encounter in math:

1. Weak foundational skills in math

To build a good math foundation, some skills must be learned in Grade 7 or 8. This includes fractions, integers, and algebra. Advanced ones include graphing, equations, geometry, and quadratics. Without these necessary skills, students will most likely struggle with math from one grade to another. With sufficient practice, the students eventually brightens up.

2. Memorize instead of understand

Students tend to memorize math, rather than understanding it. But math is better understood than memorized, which is why problem arise for the students when the teacher changes the question. To avoid losing marks, it is better to understand the “why” behind every concept and step, and also know how and when to apply them. We help students learn essential concepts, using step-by-step explanation.

The QEA math tutoring program is one on one, private.

In foundational building, we re-address our students' learning gaps by helping them understand rather than memorizing. And with enough practice questions, they get to strengthen their understanding and skills.

Build your English foundational skills - writing, reading comprehension, and critical analysis

Unless you`re learning a different language, you can hardly do without English. This is one reason why it is so critical in high school. You need a good English grade for any university admission. But achieving good English grades equally requires you to have a set of essential skills, which lots of students are missing. These include reading comprehension, essay writing, snd critical analysis skills.

QEA English tutoring program focuses on building these skills: essay writing, reading comprehension, and critical analysis. Our aim is to help our students develop these skills based on their school curriculum. For instance, QEA essay writing lessons teach students how to write concise and convincing thesis, attention-grabbing introduction to grab the reader’s interests, and building arguments from Shakespeare quotes or other novels.

Common challenges that most students encounter in English:

1. Students lack proper sentence structures

These days, students are accustomed to writing short messages. Unfortunately, the habit finds its way into school writing work. Such students` grammatical constructions inevitably lack good structure. QEA uses a step-by-step approach to discipline the student and addresses this challenge.

2. Students’ essays lack critical analysis and are penalized for marks.

Critical thinking is an essential aspect of the English language as a subject in high school. Many students are accustomed to stating the plot summary in their essays instead of providing proper critical analysis. Of course, this tells on their grades. We teach students how to glean deep insights from a story and then link the plot to other relevant themes in the story.

The QEA English tutoring program is one on one, private.

QEA tutors help each student master the English language skills, such as reading comprehension, essay writing, snd critical analysis skills, without deviating from their school's curriculum.

QE provides quality education. What does this mean? To achieve high grade, it is important to have a systematic approach to build your child's foundation: Lessons, Homework Practice and coaching.
