Essay writing is a key requirement in high school English that most students don't have a clear idea on how to excel in this skill. What makes a good thesis vs. a poor thesis? How to select good quotes to build your arguments? How do you elaborate on your arguments? How to write a good introduction to stimulate the reader's interest?
Beside these elements, there are many different types of essays: argumentative, persuasive and informative. Each of these have different requirements and ways to master.
Students will need to know how to use literary techniques in their essays, which is another level of challenge. Applying similie, methaphor and other literature techniques, not just inserting them in your essay, but to flow well with the content and argument is important. At QE, we teach our students not just the meaning of literary device, but how to apply them in the literary context.
These are all important elements that the student must master, and this is what our English tutors in Sydney teach our students.

Each type of essay is very different, on how to structure your thesis, the arguments, and the general flow of the essay. If the student's foundation has gaps, this is not an easy tasks. The student is also expected to have a deep understanding of literary device, and the ability to apply them in context.
QE tutoring focuses on the foundation gaps of the students. Because we run our sessions on private 1 on 1 basis, we will be able to pinpoint the weaknesses of individual student and tailor our lessons towards these gaps. For instance, if our tutor spot gaps in logical argument, we will teach a mini lesson on how to decide on a quote as evidence, and how to build arguments based on that evidence.
All our year 11-12 English tutors are at least MA or PhD major in English literature, with experience teaching university level English classes as TA. We don't place university students teaching our year 11 and 12 students, because QE standard is high.

Online English proficiency test preparation from certified instructors often costs $25 to $40 per hour. Private teachers that focus on industry-specific English, such as those in the medical, engineering, or hospitality fields, might charge upwards of $60 per hour.
You should budget between $18 to $175 per hour, while the precise cost will vary based on the teacher, the course style, and the location.
Tutors with teaching experience often bill between $40 and $150 per hour. Each of the following factors will have an impact on this significant variability: the tutor's level of education, either primary or secondary. Teachers with primary training who work as tutors are often paid less than those with secondary training.
Full-service tutoring is more comprehensive and offers a range of services, including individualised help with college applications and test preparation. Because it requires more time, planning, and effort from the tutor, this type of tutoring is typically more expensive.
