The QEA Standard and How We Make a Difference

1. Structural and systematic learning approach

We help students achieve their best by putting up a structural way of learning. We accomplish this by providing a proper lesson to help students review concepts, revisit homework in a stepwise order, and mock exams to practice for all subjects. Below is the list of our structural and systemic learning approaches:

  • The proper lesson to review the concepts
  • Provide extra worksheets that mimic test problems
  • Going over homework and application questions step by step
  • Mock exams

It is not uncommon to see many students perform below standard because they usually are given test questions that are way complex than their assigned homework. Therefore, many of these students don’t get to score as high as 80's and 90's. At QE, we provide extra worksheets that are as difficult as what students face during tests.

Homework practices play a vital role in helping students achieve success; we hold on to this belief at Queen Elizabeth. Before students go on break at the end of the session, we assign homework packages to them and randomly check at the beginning of a new session.

We use a combination of lesson/concepts + application problems + homework to help our students achieve excellence and make them fit for admission into top universities.

Most of our competitors would sit back and wait for their students to ask questions, which is an ineffective method because the struggling students don’t know what to ask. Instead, at Queen Elizabeth, we actively teach using the approaches mentioned above.

2. Focus on understanding the concepts and foundation building

We always ensure that our students have a sound understanding of concepts. We provide them with an in-depth knowledge of every topic. For instance, in Mathematics, we make the students understand each topic from basics before proceeding to the complex tasks. The students find it easy to treat complex tasks once the basics are well rooted in them.

We also make students understand the principle behind every lesson; this is to prevent them from getting confused during tests. In most cases, students tend to memorize steps, but they get confused during tests. We help our students to avoid this by letting them have a sound understanding of every step.

3. Our tutors have a deep understanding of the curriculum as provided by the Ministry

Queen Elizabeth is a private school of over nine years with full Ministry approval. Our tutors have full access to the teaching materials and plans. They are well informed about the curriculum. As such, they have an in-depth understanding of the building blocks from one step to the other. They know the requirements and everyday challenges of students in each grade.

For example, one of the main challenges for grades 10 and 11 students is Trinomial. Proper building of this foundation prepares the students well for the more advanced Functions and calculus of grade 12. Many students struggle because of a lack of appropriate foundational structure in lower classes. At QE, we help our students lay up a good foundation upon which they can build on.

4. Our Tutors

Our tutors are not only experts in their area, they are top achiever themselves.

They don't just tutor our students, oftentimes they serve as a role model and mentor to our students.

Queen Elizabeth tutor team is a team with a solid bond; our tutors' have an average tenure of 3 years. Most of our competitors operate as agencies or centers; their tutors are freelancers who come around and go. As such, they often deprive their students of the opportunity to get accustomed to a teaching pattern.

Our tutors are specialists in the subjects they teach. We won’t ask an English graduate to teach Mathematics. Our tutors are well trained and experienced in their fields.

Grade 9 Academic Mathematics, (MPM1D)

Tutoring Mississauga

Grade 9 Math is a significant departure from Grade 8 Math. Many students do not expect this and thus maintain a Grade 8 work ethic in high school.

The four categories of Knowledge, Application, Thinking and Communication are now introduced, and many are not accustomed to this marking scheme.

The course is also more word problem heavy than the middle school courses, possibly causing a significant drop in marks if not dealt with quickly. Many students are discouraged by a bad test and then give up, believing they are not good enough at math to do better. The good news is that this is a myth, and good marks will come to those students who put the work in and take the course seriously.

Inquiry for Tutoring Mississauga: (905) 257 9009

Try to create a regular work schedule and maintain it. A student should spend roughly 4 hours a week on math homework to succeed in this course. Math requires constant practice, and thus a steady work schedule is important to achieve desired goals in this course.

Also, make sure to spend a good deal of time addressing word problems, as word problems are going to be important, not just in grade 9, but throughout high school. They cannot be avoided!

After the sessions in our tutoring in Mississauga, we advise you to write your own notes. To start off, you can screenshot your lessons our tutors in Mississauga write on screen, when it’s conducted online. You can then organize it. From our lessons, read over the textbook and try out the practice questions. You can then summarize in your own words, with the example questions you attempted. Why not just rely on QE tutor’s notes? If I am doing poorly, how can I use the help from QE tutoring in Mississauga?

Tutoring Mississauga

If you aren’t performing well in the subject, chances are you have foundation gaps. The first step is really to address your foundation gaps. That’s also one of the focus on QE tutors in Mississauga. Once we discover your gaps during the tutoring session, we will re-teach you that particular component. Take an example, a lot of grade 11 and 12 students struggle with factoring, that’s one of the common foundation gaps. We will then re-teach it. Now, once you understand how to perform it, you need to practice at least 10-15 questions, so it sinks with you.

The next step is to review the lessons after the tutoring session. The best way is to write your own study notes. Then you need to practice homework problems. If you do all these 3 things, you will see measurable improvements from QE tutoring in Mississauga.

How is QE tutoring in Mississauga different from others?

QE provides quality education. What does this mean? To achieve high grade, it is important to have a systematic approach to build your child's foundation: Lessons, Homework Practice and coaching.
