How can our Math tutor in Austin, TX help you?
Math is a challenging subject. It is cumulative in a sense that, if you miss the foundation or
have gaps, the next year you will run into the same problem.
So building a foundation is the first step.
Memorizing steps and equations doesn't work in math. You need to start with the foundation and
understanding,
The next step is to go through a variety of problems and learn important problem solving skills.
With good explanation and a solid understanding, and with practice, you will do better and enjoy
math.

Students often times do not have a good foundation starting Algebra 1. If there are gaps on the foundation
from grade 8, such as integers, fractions, algebra, the student will find Algebra 1 challenging
Algebra 1 also introduce new complex concepts, especially linear equations. Students in Algebra 1
have difficulty understanding the connection between equations and graphs. For instance, what is x
and y intercept? What is a slope? How do you graph a line with a certain value of slope and how to
determine the slope from an equation? What to deal with the extreme cases?
Students need to grasp the concepts with practice in order to excel in Algebra 1.
QE approach to tutoring Algebra 1 in Austin, TX
We start with the foundation review, making sure that the student understands the key
foundation components described above. The next step is our lesson based approach that starts with the
concepts. The student must understand the concepts - i.e. what is a
slope, and why does it appear in a certain way? What is the slope formula and why does it look like this
What are you getting when you " plug in " a number into an equation and determine the y value? What
does it look like on a graph?
Without understanding the concept, the student will start memorize, and he / she will stumbled on
tests when the test changes the question.
Once the student understands the concept, the next step is to go over a variety of problems, step
by step. The key is to explain the rationale behind the questions.
With good lesson and practice, you will certainly excel in Algebra 1!
Geometry Tutoring in Austin, TX near me
Common Challenges for students learning Geometry
The toughest part of geometry is to relate equations to the different geometry shapes and properties. This
is
similar to the linear systems units in Algebra 1, but the Geometry version is much more complicated. The
units
in analytical geometry is difficult in this manner, along with the units in parallel lines and perpendicular
lines, which is an extension of the toughest unit in Algebra 1.
Students having foundation gaps from Algebra 1, especially if they don't understand the linear
system units in Algebra 1, will find geometry difficult.
The trigonometry unit in geometry is very important. It serves as a foundation step to Algebra 2
and calculus. It is important to ensure that the student has a good foundation on trigonometry,
because the Algebra 2 versions is built on this and is very difficult.
QE approach to tutoring Geometry in Austin, TX
The first step is to review the foundation of Algebra 1, especially linear systems, which will keep
appearing in Geometry. Next step is to provide good lessons on the geometry units, focus on understanding.
More specifically, students need to understand how the equations apply to certain shapes and properties,
what you are trying to get on each step etc.
Analyticaly geometry, the toughest unit, oftens requre many steps (a full page of solution!) to
solve a problem. Our approach is to teach the student the "plan" in plain English, rather than
drilling into each of the technical details. The student can then combine their knowledge and
execute each step of the plan. This approach helps the student to understand the "big picture" or
overview of the solution, instead of memorizing a lot of tiny steps, which can get confusing.
Trigonometry is very important in geometry, serving as a foundation for Algebra 2 and calculus. We
have seen students with weak foundation in trigonometry stumbled on the senior high school
mathematics. Understanding trigonometry with lots of practice is critical!

Algebra 2 Tutoring in Austin, TX near me
Common Challenges for students learning Algebra 2

Students will need to understand the concepts and know how to apply to many different situations, as well as
knowing what equation to use.
Students with weak foundation from Algebra 1 will find this course especially difficult. These
include factoring, graphing techniques, linear systems, trigonometry. Students with these
foundation gaps will make mistake across the tests and exams. On the surface, it looks like
careless errors, but it's foundation weaknesses.
Oftentimes the first 2-3 steps of a problems belong to new concepts, then the remaining steps
relate to foundation knowledge, such as simplying algebra or solving an equation. Therefore
students with foundation gaps will lose marks everywhere.

Calculus Tutoring in Austin, TX near me
Calculus is an important course that prepares student who is interested in engineering science, or business.
It is one of the most difficult courses for high school and building the foundation for first year
university calculus. Without a solid foundation in calculus, the student will struggle first year.
For example, a popular type of derivative is called the product rule. The basic equation is not
difficult. However, to apply that equation under different types of questions or circumstances is
hard. If the question has multiple exponents or fractions, or negative exponent, the chain rule
applied will be very different.
On a test, the teacher will not tell the student what to apply, the student will need to recognize
certain characteristics (fraction or exponents or root etc.) and know what to do with it - this
requires all the understanding of these concepts from the previous years!
The next challenge is the variety of questions coming out of a single concept.

We start with the foundation review, making sure that the student understands the key foundation components
described above. The next step is our lesson based approach that starts with the oncepts. The student must

The key is to explain the rationale behind the questions. Because the problems are advanced in Pre-calculus,
it is important for students to get exposed to a variety of problems and knowing how they are related to the

Since a lot of different concepts (calculus + previous years) are embedded in different types of problems,
it is important for the student to understand how to approach them based on recognizing certain
characteristics. That requires good explanation from QE tutors.
Some of the units, such as integrals, will require more detailed explanation. These concepts are even more
advanced. Other units such as limits and derivative are an extension of Algebra 2 and pre-calculus

If I am doing poorly, how can I use the help from QE Math tutoring in
Austin, TX?
If you aren’t performing well in the subject, chances are you have foundation gaps. The first
step is really to address your foundation gaps. That’s also one of the focus on QE Math
tutors in Austin, TX. Once we discover your gaps during the tutoring session, we will re-teach
you that particular component. Take an example, a lot of grade 11 and 12 students struggle
with factoring, that’s one of the common foundation gaps. We will then re-teach it. Now, once
you understand how to perform it, you need to practice at least 10-15 questions, so it sinks
with you.
The next step is to review the lessons after the tutoring session. The best way is to write
your own study notes. Then you need to practice homework problems. If you do all these 3
things, you will see measurable improvements from QE Math tutoring in Austin, TX.

At a time when school had to be done differently, Queen
Elizabeth Academy stepped up to the plate. During the initial change of school due to
Covid my son was going to a public ally funded school and the most contact he had with his
teachers was to read or watch something on-line and then do an assignment which he got a
grade back but no feedback on what he did right or wrong. At
Queensway academy my son has to sign on daily with his teacher and classmates ( small
class size only 8 students) and she actually teaches a class. There is plenty of time
for questions and my son gets feedback on his tests. Being at work I can’t monitor if
my son actually signs on but there is great communication from the school. One day my
son slept in and I got text and emails asking where my son was. They follow up quickly
if you have any questions or concerns. I highly recommend attending here. Great

It varies based on the age of the child and subject university tutoring of course requires a
different level of expertise and will cost more than elementary school tutoring doing division.
If your tutor is good and if you are behind. It is important to build a good foundation, so you
can excel in your high school year and be competitive on your university applications.
Teachers have to manage a class or 30+ kids, whereas QE tutors are one on one. The level of
attention is unmatch - not because of the skills of the teacher, but because of the session
setup. We can target and tailor to the strengths and weakness of the student and focus on
overcoming individual gaps in their foundation. You can't do that in a 30 kids classroom.
We have students coming from grade 5 to university. Grade 5 to 7 will be a good starting age,
where the basic foundation is important and you are not doing catch-up. In this case you can
nurture your child's skill and interest and build a good routine.
1. Complete high school and earn a diploma: A high school diploma or its equivalent is
usually the minimum educational requirement to become a tutor.
2. Complete your training and education: Tutors need to have a strong knowledge base in
the subjects they tutor. Pursuing higher education in your area of expertise or related
field can enhance your knowledge and skill set.
3. Join a tutoring association: Joining a tutoring association can provide you with
access to resources, training, and networking opportunities to help you become a
successful tutor.
4. Pursue a tutoring certification: Obtaining a tutoring certification can demonstrate
your expertise and commitment to the profession. Certification programs may vary by
state and subject matter, but often require a certain amount of tutoring experience and
passing an exam.
To work as a math tutor, one must have at least a high school diploma or equivalent.
However, for teaching advanced math subjects like calculus, linear algebra, or
differential equations, a bachelor's degree or higher in a STEM-related field may be
required. On average, math tutors earn around $16 per hour, but this amount can vary
depending on several factors such as location, experience, and employment status.
One of the major difficulties faced by many tutors is the lack of motivation among
their students. Students may have various reasons for their lack of interest, such as
having other goals or interests that compete with their studies. Consequently, they may
not be interested in their studies.
If you are not a citizen of the United States, it is necessary to verify with your
international student office or immigration authority whether you are permitted to work
as a tutor on Knack, as well as any limitations that may apply.
If your child needs more help with homework or is struggling to understand complex math
concepts, it may be beneficial to consider hiring a specialized math tutor.
A math tutor can offer personalized one-on-one instruction, assist with challenging
math concepts, and adapt their lessons to fit the specific needs of the child, whether
through online or in-person sessions.
No. So It's important to do your research and carefully choose a tutor who has the
necessary qualifications, experience, and expertise to meet your needs. Reading reviews
and asking for recommendations from trusted sources can also help in finding a good
tutor.
Downplay your own role and instead highlight the student's participation. Encourage the
student to engage in specific tasks and involve them in the learning process through
questioning. Inquire in a gentle manner about the reason behind the student seeking
tutoring and their expectations from you.

With the Peel school board in a bit of a mess this year, we were
looking for a credited summer program for my son to fast track his Grade 11 math. We'd
heard great things about Victor and the Queen Elizabeth Academy from friends who had kids take fast track classes. The low student to teacher ratio and the
extra 1:1 care they provide really helps bring out the engagement compared to a 33
student class. My son has greatly enjoyed the course--though summer classes are intense
and fast paced. All the more reason for extra attention during instruction. We would
recommend Victor and his team of instructors for any of the accredited high school
programs they are offering.read more

Our daughter has taken math since Gr 9 with QE. This year she
took Gr 12 functions at school and she found it was difficult and confusing, as well, the
teacher did not teach ALL the material. We found the teacher in her high school did not
care, nor take time to ensure they understood. Tests covered content
that was not taught in class. Her experience was a disaster! Given this we put put her
back to QE to upgrade her mark too prepareand ensure she had background for university.
Not only have we seen a 15-20% bump in mark but we have seen her confidence soar
because the teacher teaches the content, ensures they understand and truly cares during
covid- yes online has been fantastic! Money well spent and calc.will be with QE since
public education in math is failing miserably. Big shout to QE and their fantastic

Update on July

This summer we were very hesitant about online lessons since we had bad
experience with our regular high school distance learning. Victor reassured us that
this won’t be the case with his school. I have to admit quality of learning is
outstanding teachers are very passionate and caring. They make sure that each kid in
the class understand the unit. The classes are so well organized online and they flow
smoothly. We are very glad we signed up for the summer school wit QA. Most likely we
will pursue some other classes in the fall due to uncertainty of regular
classes.

My son had a wonderful experience for grade 11 functions. It's
remarkable that the lessons were so well organized during Covid-19, with all of the
lessons being virtual. The kids were engaged and Victor's teaching staff is top notch. I
highly recommend QE to anyone seeking a quality education experience for their
child.

Great place to tune up marks and get ready for university. It
worked well for both my children to boost their confidence in English, math and science.
Furthermore, we got lots of info on major universities’ requirements so it was easier to
decide where to go and what to expect. Victor is very knowledgeable in his area of
expertise and his instructors are amazing!

If you are looking for a place that will get your child's grades
up to get into top universities and programs - look no further. The tutors are outstanding
- not only do they know their subjects, they also know how to teach it and how to explain
the material to their student. They go out of their way to make sure your child
understands even the most complex concepts and succeeds.

My child was discouraged with school and felt that he wasn’t
capable of excelling in math. Then I was introduced to Victor. My son felt very
comfortable with him and he matched tutors that worked well with his personality to help him feel confident. We have only been tutoring for a few months
but I can see a huge difference in my sons attitude towards math and his confidence has
improved. He looks forward to tutoring now. My experience has been phenomenal with
Queen Elizabeth Academy. I expect that my sons confidence will be reflected in his
marks this coming year and I look forward to continuing with QA!read more

Quality of tutors were optimal. My daughter found that the
tutoring helped her math curriculum to be more clear and easy to understand. I feel it
made a positive difference in both her confidence and with her final mark. One of the things that I lalso like about QE is that Victor provides
articles and a seminar from past students which gives insight to a variety of topics
relevant to academics and universities.read

Besides excellent education, Victor gives life changing
inspiration to students that need it most when they are graduating from high school and
looking forward to their future. Victor and his staff have inspired my son to think out of the box with so much confidence and has made a huge
difference in how things will unfold for him. I can't wait till he starts his Calculus
class next week.read more

I've tried other tutors before, but few have actually helped
improve my grades like Queen Elizabeth has. They were focused on actually helping me
improve my grades (from 80s up to 90s), which was how I managed to get accepted into all my uni choices! :) Thank you victor!read more

QE was recommended to us by a friend & we have been extremely
happy. One on one math tutoring has built up our daughters confidence & this has
ultimately helped increase her marks substantially. Having a tutor who can teach to a students way of learning is invaluable & we feel we have
experienced that with both of the tutors that our daughter has worked with. Above
& beyond the tutoring, we have also appreciated Victor's e-mails providing information
about timely topics. Our daughter has enjoyed her tutoring & we would highly
recommend QA.read more
